LYRICISTS

Welcome to the page about lyricists and co-writers. Wow! What a wealth of talent here! I wish we knew how Johnny met these wonderful writers. I only remember one story when our parents were sitting with Mercer and his wife at a musical event. The wives hit it off and Mercer turned to mom and said “ I’m going to write with him!” the rest is history.. “Baby-o”, I’ve Waited For A Waltz” and “Young and Free”

We do know that Johnny was surrounded by great musicians and writers on all his playing jobs. He met a plethora of singers and writers and had the opportunity to create with many of them.

We have tried to locate info on everyone he collaborated with, but we are missing some facts. Please feel free to share information you may have, on the “Comments” page.

Each lyricist is listed with the names of the songs that are on this website. Refer to the “Index” to find which category each song is in.
